Everyone is welcome to this event! The Election event will include food, music and fellowship.
The election procedure will last from 6:30 pm until approx. 7:15 pm ET.
IF YOU'D LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN VOTING
1. AIAS Active Members are eligible to vote.
2. Voting will take place live, both in-person and on Zoom.

IF YOU’D LIKE TO RUN FOR OFFICE OR NOMINATE SOMEONE ELSE
1. Review the Chapter Constitution for office summaries.
Offices and key notes from the Chapter Constitution:
Art. V, § 2: The term of the Office shall be one academic year. One person may not serve simultaneously in more than one position. Transitional assistance for new Officers will be provided by outgoing Officers during a Transition Period between the announcement of newly elected Officers and the beginning of the following academic year.
Comment: The 2021-2022 academic year begins on the first day of traditional fall courses which is August 23, 2021.
Art. V, § 3: The President
Prerequisite: The President must have previously been on an Executive Board or a leading active member of two consecutive years of The Chapter if no other nominees are had for the position.
Art. V, § 4: The Vice President
Art. V, § 5: The Programming Director
Art. V, § 6: The Treasurer
Art. V, § 7: The Freedom by Design™ Director
Comment: Read the full description and duties of these offices in the Chapter Constitution. The prerequisites for the remaining, non-President offices are that he or she must be an Active Member by the time of being elected.

2. Nominate either yourself or someone else by April 19 @ 11:59 PM ET. Only AIAS Active Members may nominate or run for office.

3. Nominees will receive an email between April 19-21 to either accept or decline the nominated position(s). If a nominee accepts to run for more than one office, he or she may be elected for no more than one office in the order of offices listed above. (See Art. IV.) These nominees will have their image and brief profile included in the Election event slideshow.
4. You may also nominate yourself or someone else ‘from the floor’ at the time of the Election event. This must be seconded by another individual to be valid.
5. The Election event will include a year-in-review, candidate speeches and voting. Candidates must prepare live or pre-recorded speeches (5 minutes for President; 2 minutes for remaining offices) and a live Q&A session (5 minutes for President, 2 minutes for remaining offices.)
6. The Election Committee will facilitate the procedures as per Art. IV. and announce newly elected officers commending the event. The newly elected will assume their titles and duties starting the first day of the fall semester (August 23, 2021) following a summer Transition Period.
